There is a discovery waiting for everyone in the 10,000 farming artifacts at the Agriculture History Project’s 11,000 square foot exhibit space that displays the history of crops, people, food processing, and farm equipment. Additionally, a research library, meeting room and beautiful lawn is available for your tour’s guests.
The Agriculture History Project, located on Highway 152 at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville, California is preserving the history of agriculture of the Central Coast of California. AHP opened its doors to the public in May, 2004 to a ready market of tourists and bus tours.
Tour operators can schedule a facility tour with a knowledgeable docent, a fun hayride, and an on-site catered lunch. Additionally, there are many restaurants that can accommodate 40 to 50 people, and the Red Roof Inn offers reasonable guaranteed rates for bus tours.
We are near many other tourist destinations in Santa Cruz County: next door on the Fairgrounds is the Rodgers House, an 1860’s Victorian house that was restored to its original condition; Gizdich Ranch, a pick yourself berries and apples farm, antique shop and bakery; Sierra Azul Nursery, a nursery with two acres of beautiful gardens; Roses of Yesterday and Today, a rose nursery and gardens featuring many favorite roses of yesteryear. To the north in Felton is Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park where more than 600,000 visitors come annually to walk through the majestic, 1,500 year old redwood trees; and Roaring Camp Railroads where your tour guests can experience a steam locomotive train ride in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
